Easier

About this song

"Easier" is a bass-heavy track with industrial rock and new wave influences, and it marks 5 Seconds of Summer's first solo release after their 2018 comeback album Youngblood and their 2019 co-write and vocals on The Chainsmokers' "Who Do You Love". Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic co-wrote the song, and Luke Hemmings handles the vocals. The band teased the release with a 15-second snippet on Twitter, and the band said the track's drum groove was influenced by Nine Inch Nails' "Closer", with Depeche Mode and Tears for Fears also cited as inspirations.

What it's about

The lyrics follow the band debating whether or not to stay in a toxic relationship.
