About this song

"Take on Me" is a synthpop song that mixes acoustic guitars, keyboards and drums. It was released as a-ha's debut single in September 1984 and was a huge hit in their homeland of Norway. After being remixed and re-released internationally, its pencil-sketch animated music video, which mixed animation with live action, won awards and helped the song become a hit around the world. The song reached number one in several countries, including the US in late 1985, and has sold over 7 million copies worldwide. Its video won eight awards at the 1986 MTV Video Music Awards.
