About this song
The title track of Aaliyah's second studio album, the song was considered unusual for R&B at the time because of its almost drum-and-bass style beats. It was one of the early examples of Timbaland's drum-skitter style of programming. Missy Elliott recalled in a 2015 Billboard interview that radio stations initially refused to play it, saying it sounded off in its rhythm, melody and overall feel. The song went on to reach #1 on the R&B charts for six weeks.
