About this song
"Fame is a Gun" is an electro-pop track that takes inspiration from Sheila E.'s 1984 song "The Glamorous Life." It is the fifth single from Addison Rae's debut album, Addison. The song was first teased on a billboard in Shibuya, Japan, and Rae announced it on Instagram on May 27, 2025, previewing it the day before release. It arrived with a music video directed by Sean Price Williams, whose intro shows the name "Addison" without "Rae."
What it's about
The song takes a defiant stance toward the reception her music gets, with Rae drawing empowerment from the attention her social media fame brings. Regardless of the feedback, she comes out on top and enjoys the glitz and glamour.
