Miss Murder

About this song

The song is known for having many interpretations, and the band has often left its meaning open on purpose. Frontman Davey Havok has said he does not need listeners to understand the song exactly, and that he is happy for people to take something personal from it. AFI have also been known to hide references to rabbits, numerology, reincarnation and astrology in their work, and the video for the song features rabbits as unofficial harbingers of death.

What it's about

One reading treats the song as the story of a celebrity who kills himself to gain a kind of immortality, serving as a Gothic commentary on fame and celebrity worship. Other readings connect it to Satan's fall, Jesus abandoning humanity, or the Dorian Gray tale of selling one's soul for lasting beauty.
