About this song
Gerry Beckley wrote the song, and George Martin produced it. It was inspired by the music of Jackson Browne, whose honest, observational style led Beckley to write in a more Los Angeles-flavored way. The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 for a week in June 1975, peaked at #28 on Billboard's Easy Listening chart, and had moderate success in New Zealand and Australia.
