About this song
"E-Pro" is the opening track on Beck's 2005 album Guero and was released as the album's lead single in March 2005. It became Beck's second Modern Rock chart-topper and his first in eleven years. The production includes an underlying Beastie Boys sample, and Beck wrote the song in 20-second segments, with the intro, verses and chorus each lasting 20 seconds.
What it's about
The title comes from Scientology slang for a skilled user of the E-meter, a device used during an "audit" to read a person's negative thoughts and feelings. Beck was raised in Scientology but has since disavowed membership in the group.
