About this song
"Hit 'Em Up Style (Oops!)" is the debut single from singer Blu Cantrell and reached #2 on the US Billboard Hot 100, making it her biggest hit. The R&B song builds its swing feel on a sample of Frank Sinatra's "The Boys' Night Out" from 1962. Cantrell has said she didn't care for the song artistically, but she included it on the album because of bitter feelings she was experiencing at the time. The song's success also led to a reggae-tinged hip-hop remix featuring Foxy Brown.
What it's about
The song tells of a scorned woman who goes on a shopping spree with her unfaithful ex's credit card. It sparked conversation about what happens when romance goes badly.
