About this song
The song peaked at number five in the UK charts and was considered a comeback hit after poor sales of Blur's second album, Modern Life Is Rubbish. NME and Melody Maker magazines named it song of the year for 1994. The single's cover art was taken from a condom wrapper.
What it's about
The song focuses on sexual promiscuity during summer holidays in Europe. Its music blends various pop and dance styles, which bassist Alex James summed up as disco drums, nasty guitars and Duran Duran bass, with the drums played by a drum machine.
