About this song
"Mr. Jones" is the debut single of the American rock band Counting Crows. It became the band's breakout single and first radio hit, peaking at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart.
What it's about
Singer Adam Duritz has said the song is about him and his friend Marty sitting at a San Francisco bar after watching Marty's father play, too shy to approach two women and joking that being rock stars would make it easy. Duritz has also described a more subtle theme about dreams and what drives people to pursue them.
