About this song
Pusherman was part of the soundtrack to the film Superfly. Along with other songs on the album, it helped the soundtrack outgross the movie itself.
What it's about
The song tells the story of a man who seems to have it all in the ghetto but is actually trying to escape the squalor of the inner city. It reflects the film's drug-dealing protagonist and the social issues of its day that Mayfield addressed in his politically aware lyrics.
