You Make My Dreams (Come True)

About this song

"You Make My Dreams" was the fourth and final single from Hall & Oates' ninth studio album, Voices, and peaked at number five in the US in July 1981. Hall wrote it in his New York apartment on a Yamaha CP 30 keyboard, and he initially worried the lyrics were too happy before deciding to keep the song simple. The track has since been featured in films including The Wedding Singer and 500 Days of Summer.

What it's about

The song is an uplifting anthem about how being with someone makes dreams come true. Its appeal lies in its simplicity and directness.
