About this song
Destiny's Child released "Say My Name" in 1999 as the third single from their second album, Writings on the Wall, and it became a breakthrough for the group. Producer Rodney Jerkins, known as Darkchild, made the track with his brother Fred Jerkins III and LaShawn Daniels, and Beyoncé recalled first disliking his initial mix before a reworked version won her over. The music video marked a change in the lineup, with Michelle Williams and Farrah Franklin appearing in place of LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson.
