DENIAL IS A RIVER

About this song

The track is set over a classic boom bap instrumental and alternates between Doechii herself and a therapist alter ego. It picks up where her last project, Oh The Places You'll Go, released in 2020, left off. The title references a viral clip of Wendy Williams from her reality show The Wendy Williams Experience.

What it's about

Doechii raps about discovering her ex-partner's bisexuality through explicit messages on his Instagram, tying the story to the Williams clip. She also covers her rise in the music industry, from signing with Top Dawg Entertainment to her first hit singles, along with her struggles with drug use and mental health.
