About this song
The band first recorded the song but set it aside, feeling it did not meet their standards. Manager John Silva later missed it, and the band was pushed to rework it. Dave Grohl said it grew out of his time playing for the John Kerry presidential campaign, which led him to write songs about breaking free of what holds you back.
