About this song
"Take Me Out" is a song by Scottish indie rock band Franz Ferdinand, released as the second single from their self-titled debut album. It came out in the United Kingdom on 12 January 2004 and in the United States on 9 February, both through Domino Records. Lead singer Alex Kapranos has said he was inspired by the war film Enemy at the Gates, and the song has received critical and commercial acclaim. It is the band's highest charting single to date.
What it's about
Kapranos has said the song takes its image from a standoff between two snipers in the film, which he uses as a metaphor for romantic situations where both people are interested in each other but neither wants to make the first move.
