Cherry Lips (Go Baby Go!)

About this song

Released as a single from the album Beautiful Garbage in 2001, the song failed in major markets but became a hit in Australia, Italy, Mexico and South America. Shirley Manson wrote the lyrics loosely around two novels she had just read, written by Laura Albert under the pseudonym JT LeRoy. Manson later described the song as an adrenaline rush and probably the most celebratory song the band had ever written. The music video was directed by Joseph Kahn and filmed in a Brooklyn loft, and Manson later said the band had been pressured by their record company into making it and regretted it.

What it's about

The lyrics were loosely inspired by the two novels Manson had been reading.
