About this song
Oblivion is the third track on Grimes' third studio album, Visions. Pitchfork named it the best track of the decade so far.
What it's about
The song is about being violently assaulted and the paranoia and sense of powerlessness that followed. It also turns a violent situation into something upbeat, reclaiming a sense of physical strength, and its dark-night imagery reflects both the attack and the process of coping with it.
