About this song
"Hollaback Girl" was released as the third single from Gwen Stefani's album Love. Angel. Music. Baby. It was inspired by a comment Courtney Love made about Gwen Stefani in Seventeen magazine. Stefani took the remark to heart and built the bass-heavy track as a high school-style diss, dressed up as a cheerleader.
What it's about
The song answers Courtney Love's jab that Stefani is the cheerleader in the high school of fame, turning that image into a playful, brash response.
