About this song
The song was released without warning to fans, less than an hour before Styles performed it during his hosting debut on Saturday Night Live. It is his second 2019 release, after the October single "Lights Up", and both tracks appear on his album Fine Line. Styles first teased it in an October 22, 2019 tweet that referenced his 2017 track "Kiwi". The song won Styles his first Grammy Award, for Best Pop Solo Performance, in March 2021.
What it's about
The song recalls a summer past, with images of sweet berries and a former love. In a 2020 NPR Tiny Desk Concert, Styles described it as being about the early euphoria of starting to see someone and the excitement that comes with it.
