About this song
This marks KAYTRANADA's first release since the November 2018 NOTHIN LIKE U / CHANCES EP. In a Beats 1 interview with Zane Lowe, he teased a shift in sound and the possibility of a sophomore album arriving soon, though he was coy about details. The upbeat instrumental is built on KAYTRANADA's groovy production, with the sultry vocals of the duo VanJess shining through.
What it's about
The song is about a relationship on the verge of breaking because things can no longer work out between the two people. Its subject matter is generally somber, even though the instrumental is upbeat.
