About this song

'Suffocate' is the third track on the album 'You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To'. Poppy came up with the idea for the collaboration, reaching out to the band because she wanted to work with them. The band said her involvement pushed them to try unusual ideas they couldn't use on other songs.

What it's about

Vocalist Bryan describes the song bluntly as being about someone stabbing you in the back.
