About this song
The song is a single from Little Simz's album Sometimes I Might Be Introvert, and it follows her earlier album GREY Area, released in March 2019. When i-D asked in April 2021 what listeners should take from the social injustices the song highlights, Simz said that people can take away whatever they feel, since art is open to interpretation.
What it's about
The song draws on Simz's British-Nigerian roots and her inner turmoil, and it takes aim at national government corruption and greed. It also addresses the prejudice a Black woman faces in a time of crisis, with a message that unity brings strength and that change may require a fight.
