Adorn

About this song

The song opens with a spoken line suggesting it is the subconscious speaking, and it is tied to an album based on dreams that Miguel sees as expressing unrestrained desires. Its slow groove and sensual melodies place it alongside many classic R&B love-making songs. When Genius asked Miguel during an annotation session whether he had ever made love to the song, he said he had not, explaining that he keeps his own music out of the bedroom.

What it's about

The song describes women who appear as visions in the singer's mind, embodying qualities he finds attractive, and the haunting sense of being unable to tell what is real. It centers on a main woman who is separate from him yet imagined beside him, covered in a way that hides her beauty, until he adorns her with a loving expression and she is uncovered.
