About this song
"Hayloft" is the eighth track on Mother Mother's 2008 album O My Heart. The song is built around a barn-set scene that gives its title.
What it's about
The lyrics describe two young lovers caught having sex in a barn's hayloft and the father's rage, as he comes with a gun intending to shoot his child's lover. The anger seems aimed less at the trespassing than at the couple having sex.
