About this song
"Everybody Talks" is the lead single from Neon Trees' second studio album, Picture Show. It became the band's highest-charting single and their first top 10 hit, peaking at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100, and it remains their most popular song. Frontman Tyler Glenn said he was inspired by Roy Orbison and the Motown music his dad listened to.
What it's about
Glenn has said the song was about an ex-girlfriend spreading rumors that he was gay, and it is one of the queer messages he hid in the band's early songs.
