About this song
Fireflies was Owl City's debut single and became an international hit, reaching number one in the US in November 2009. The song is credited with bringing the genre twee into the mainstream. It was inspired by watching shooting stars on a camping trip, and its lyrics were also influenced by insomnia. Relient K lead vocalist Matthew Thiessen provides uncredited vocals on the track.
