About this song
Andrew Savage said the piano melody had been with him for a long time before he realized it could work for Parquet Courts. The vocal performance was inspired by Divine, whose raspy voice over a disco beat he admires, and he compared the song's feel to Andrea True Connection's "More, More, More." He intended it as a companion to "Total Football," with a similar manifesto-like lyrical concept but a more dance-oriented sound.
What it's about
The lyrics are manifesto-like and speak in terms of "we" rather than "I." The song is meant to be optimistic, which Savage describes as central to the record.
