About this song
Pat Benatar's "Heartbreaker" was released as the second single from her 1979 debut album In the Heat of the Night. It became a sleeper hit and her breakthrough single, reaching No. 23 on the Billboard Hot 100 and staying on the chart for four and a half months. The song was first recorded by British singer Jenny Darren in 1978 for her album Queen of Fools, and Benatar changed several of the lyrics for her own version, including rewriting the entire second verse.
