About this song
Delilah DiCrescenzo, a professional runner, was the inspiration for the song, which was nominated for a Grammy. She attended the 2008 Grammys with the band, and she described the day as one of the best of her life even though the song did not win. The song has continued to follow her in the years since.
What it's about
The song was written after a band member told Delilah at a party that he would write a song about her. Tom Higgenson later visited her home to drop off a CD containing the track.
