About this song
The song was the first single released from Rascal Flatts' album Me And My Gang, which eventually topped the charts. Jeffrey Steele, who wrote it, has said it was originally inspired by the loss of his father, but he changed its meaning to make it more of a universal love song. Gary LeVox and producer Dan Huff loved the song and went on to produce it.
What it's about
The song's story is told through a music video about a young woman grieving her boyfriend, whose death in a fatal car accident she blames on her father for making him leave. The video mixes scenes of the band playing with flashbacks to the couple.
