About this song
Scar Tissue was the first single released from the album Californication. The song won a Grammy in 2000 for Best Rock Song and peaked at number 8 on the Billboard charts.
What it's about
The song deals with the hardships of getting sober and how people who return to everyday life are seen differently. Scar tissue serves as a metaphor: a sign of past damage that has healed, including the healed marks left by drug injection.
