About this song
The song comes from Gish's rising music career, which brought acclaim for her earlier releases, including the 2016 album Ed Buys Houses, and opportunities to perform at many venues. At the time she was only 20 and studying at Northeastern University, and she has spoken in a 2017 interview about feeling anxious about becoming famous.
What it's about
The song is about feeling unworthy of one's achievements and being hyper-aware of one's insecurity, along with anxiety about becoming an adult without a clear plan for life. It handles these doubts with humor, with a bubbly melody masking the dread underneath and the falsetto chorus delivering the more honest feeling.
