Baptize

About this song

"Baptize" is the opening track on the album Spilligion and was released as the second pre-release single, two weeks before the album came out. The song features vocals from Ant Clemons, Gallant, and Luke James at its conclusion.

What it's about

The song uses religious and biblical references to rap about police brutality and the United States government systems. It redefines baptism as a kind of lyrical education and questions God's actions and motives, especially as they relate to African Americans.
