Matte Black is the second song on the album Sing Me a Lullaby, My Sweet Temptation. A sample of the song was used to promote the Greyday collection on May 9, 2022. The track runs longer than is typical for $uicideboy$ songs.
Scrim's verse paints a picture of his addictive tendencies and manic depressive side, jumping between sex, relapsing into opioids and his sadness, even though his money and possessions cannot make him truly happy. Ruby's verse focuses on feeling like a wreck as he gets older and being unable to look after himself, warning that others should stay away because he will drag them down.
