About the Money

About this song

"About the Money" was released on June 3, 2014 as the first single from T.I.'s ninth studio album, Paperwork: The Motion Picture, through Grand Hustle and Columbia Records. It was released with a music video directed by Kennedy Rothchild, and its sample-heavy production came from London On Da Track. T.I. said the song came about when Young Thug turned up at the studio and they recorded it on the spot.

What it's about

The song is a summer jam about money, opulence and alligator shoes. It finds T.I. teaming up with Young Thug on a track built around those themes.
