What it's about
The song follows a despairing young man, the traveler's son, who meets a group of girls who show him some of the good life. That night leaves him feeling better than he ever has. The phrase indigo night is read several ways: the colour of the night sky, a dreamy state of freedom as if no one is watching, and a possible reference to drugs and an intense feeling of being more alive.
