About this song
"Stranglehold" is the first track on Ted Nugent's self-titled 1975 album and was released as a single. Nugent has said the song was a collaborative effort with Rob Grange, who did not receive co-writer credit. The track's eight-plus minute length, riff-driven groove and guitar solo, which Nugent recorded in a single take, are highlighted, and Guitar World magazine voted the solo one of the best in rock history. The song has appeared in many films, including Dazed and Confused, and in video games such as Guitar Hero: World Tour.
