About this song
Halsey and Andrew Taggart of The Chainsmokers share vocals on the track, the first time the duo featured its own vocals on a song and their first collaboration with Halsey. The song was performed at the 2016 MTV VMAs and reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100, where it tied LeAnn Rimes's 32-week top 10 record in 2017. In September 2016, The Fray's Isaac Slade and Joe King were added as songwriters because the chorus resembled their 2005 hit "Over My Head (Cable Car)." It was certified Diamond in the United States in 2018.
What it's about
The song is a romance anthem about youth and heartbreak.
