About this song
"Andrew in Drag" is the second song from The Magnetic Fields' tenth studio album, Love at the Bottom of the Sea. It returns to the melodic synth-pop sound the band was known for in the 1990s, a style it had largely avoided in the 2000s.
What it's about
The song tells the story of a straight man who goes to support a friend in an amateur drag competition, only to fall in love with the female illusion the friend creates.
