About this song
Ozzie Nelson recorded the song in 1931, and it became a classic of depression-era America. Ella Fitzgerald, Doris Day, and Louis Armstrong with Ella Fitzgerald have also covered it. The Mamas & The Papas chose to record it with Cass Elliot on lead vocals, and it became her signature song, which she performed with the group and as a solo artist until her death in 1974.
