About this song
Billy Corgan recorded the song in a Chicago studio while the band was still touring for Siamese Dream, putting down a batch of ideas on tape. He said he never expected it to become a single, and he called recording the 30-piece string section one of the most exciting experiences of his career. The music video was inspired by George Méliès' silent film A Trip to the Moon, and it won six awards at the 1996 MTV Video Music Awards from eight nominations.
What it's about
The song's theme is hope, and it is about finding the courage to lose yourself in the moment, when anything seems possible. Corgan has shared little about its specific meaning beyond saying the message was his alone and quite direct.
