About this song
"Shut Up and Dance" was the lead single from Walk the Moon's 2014 album, Talking Is Hard. It became a major success and gave the band their first top ten pop hit. The song was one of the last written for the album in LA, with help from Ben Berger and Ryan McMahon of Captain Cuts.
What it's about
The song is inspired by a true experience and memories of high school. It deliberately recreates the bouncy, quirky feel of early 80s pop-rock.
