About this song
The song is the second single from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' 2009 album It's Blitz!. It peaked at number one on the Dance/Electronic Singles chart in the U.S. and on Belgium's Flemish Ultratop 50 chart. It was used by the TV drama The Tudors to promote its fourth season, and an episode of Glee featured a mashup of it with Michael Jackson's Thriller.
What it's about
The song is a seductive and frightening blend of dance music and goth that confronts the deadly rave lifestyle without preaching. Its video and imagery draw on Alice in Wonderland and the Red Queen, with references to drug use at raves.
