Breezeblocks

About this song

Breezeblocks is from alt-J's debut album, An Awesome Wave. The band was inspired by their love of Maurice Sendak's Where the Wild Things Are, and the song draws on that book's imagery. Band member Newman explained the idea behind the song in an interview with Interview Magazine.

What it's about

The song tells the story of a desperate man trying to win back the affection of a lover who has grown disillusioned, capturing the yearning that comes with lost love. Newman describes it as being drawn to someone so intensely that it hurts both people.
