Big Sean brings together fourteen Detroit natives, eleven rappers and three producers, on the track, which follows the approach Eminem took on 2014's "Detroit vs. Everybody." Part of the song is produced by Hit-Boy, the executive producer of Detroit 2, who is the only contributor not from Detroit. The track runs through seven beat switches over nearly ten minutes and is notable for uniting artists who have previously had disagreements, including Eminem, Royce and Tee Grizzley.
A cypher is a gathering of rappers who take turns freestyling, and the song presents that format as a celebration of the city. Big Sean has said the track shows the city coming together, even among people with past misunderstandings.
