Mr. Rager

About this song

"Mr. Rager" is a ballad about Cudi's impulsive persona, the title character of his second album, Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager. The New York Times has described the song as one where he imagines himself as a role model telling kids about his adventures.

What it's about

The song paints Mr. Rager as an impulsive alter ego, and the line about heading to heaven is left open to interpretation, whether through rapture or death. The music video has been widely debated, with one reading seeing Mr. Rager as the addicted Cudi who is destroyed by the new Cudi, and another seeing him as an addicted self attempting to break back into Cudi's life, with Cudi himself needing to overcome that addiction.
