Animals

About this song

It is the second track on Maroon 5's fifth studio album, V, and was released as the band's second single shortly after the album. Its music video came out on September 29th, in which Adam plays a butcher stalking a woman played by his wife. The video's premise and final scenes drew controversy for their sexual content, heavy use of blood, and perceived glamorization of unhealthy relationships.

What it's about

The song uses animal metaphors to describe a breakup that might not be permanent.
