About this song
The song's visual idea came from a long-held concept of pulling toy pieces off a face to represent plastic surgery. Melanie Martinez released an official music video for the song on December 1, 2016. The song is her favorite from her debut album Cry Baby.
What it's about
The song addresses plastic surgery, cautioning that trying to remake yourself into something you are not may bring regret. Its message is less a criticism of women who have surgery than a question of why they would change themselves when they are already beautiful.
