About this song
"Hand It Over" is the third single from the album Little Dark Age. It is calmer and dreamier than the title track and the upbeat single "When You Die". Within 24 hours before its release, the band posted three teasers, including one featuring the poem "What Is Poetry" by John Ashbery.
What it's about
The lyrics are heavy and carry political connotations. Andrew VanWyngarden has said the song is a straightforward commentary on Donald Trump's presidency.
